Desert Flying Club Rusty Pilot Seminar – November 2016

That’s right! In conjunction with AOPA, Desert Flying Club is hosting another Rusty Pilot seminar Saturday, November 19th at 7am. This seminar will cover all of the ground portion of the material required for a flight review. At the end of the presentations, you will receive the ground portion sign-off for the flight review, which will make you close to ready to get back up in the air!

The event is free for pilots to attend. We will be having a pot-luck breakfast at 7am, and the presentations will begin at 8am sharp. Afterward, we will have short rides for really cheap. Also – we’re raffling off some pretty cool prizes! Registration is free. (Note: you DO NOT need to be an AOPA member to register) So here is the recap of the event:

  • 7:00 am: Pot-luck breakfast.
  • 8:00 am – 11:00 am: Rusty Pilot Presentation (bring something for notes!)
  • 11:00 am – 11:15 am: Raffle! (1 ticket included with registration, or $5 each, 5 for $20)
  • 11:30 am: Intro Rides (details at the seminar)
  • Receive your flight review endorsement for the ground portion

Location: Desert Flying Club Airport Office

1420 Jet Stream Drive Ste 110, Henderson, NV 89052

All proceeds of the raffle will go to pay for the costs of the seminar, and 100% to our non-profit flying club. You must register here if you wish to attend. Mark it on your calendar, and we’ll see you there!

Come to our safety meeting at Henderson Executive Terminal this Thursday, September 15th, at 7pm!

We will be showing you how to build your own DIY ADS-B receiver / GPS for around $150 total! Get the power of a stratus, but at a fraction of the cost. It’s really just a plug-and-play type of setup, and just about anyone who can follow directions can do it! Check out www.stratux.me for more information on the actual implementation & compatible EFB applications.

Our meeting for March is on drones! We will be touring Aerodrome’s facilities in Henderson, NV and learning about integration of drones in the national airspace system. What other reason do you need to attend?!

Aerodrome is a training facility for drone pilots and mechanics.  They also operate a drone base outside of Boulder City, NV.  Part of their training is to receive a sport pilot certificate, which also fits in with the mission of Desert Flying Club.
